FAQ

What is GSM & is it the sole factor for determining the fabric strength?

GSM stands for grams per square meter. Though fabric weight is not the sole reason, it is one of the most important factors to know the sturdiness and durability of the fabric.
A tarpaulin is exposed to a lot of weather elements- wind, water, and Sun. Not to forget external objects and human force. Hence, the heavier the fabric, the stronger it is, keeping other factors constant.

What other factors, other than fabric weight, are determinants of fabric strength & durability?

Other factors like the cotton used, the loom-state fabric preparation, itsbleaching, quality of chemicals used in coating the fabric, are all determining factors. All these work in a cumulative fashion to give a resultant product that we call a tarpaulin!

How strong are the tarps made by ‘Ace Tarpaulin’?

To make the highest quality tarpaulin products is our mission. For that, we categorically take care of all the aspects. We use the best and the sturdiest of materials- cotton canvas fabric, and in some cases- polyester blend.
We then treat it with the most controlled and regulated fabric-processing methods in the industry. The grade and quality of chemicals that we use are world-class and unmatched. Post-operations quality control and checks ensure that our stringent standards are met, and unacceptable deviations are not tolerated.
In this very unorganized and polyethylene-driven Indian market, we envision a change driven by high-quality products, using the best of raw materials, processes, and operations, to give our fellow compatriots a world-class made-in-India product.

Is it worth spending on a canvas tarp or should I just go for an economical PE tarpaulin?

A canvas tarp could look a tad-bit expensive vis-à-vis its PE(Polyethylene) counterpart, but in reality, it is actually cheaper! Read further to know why.
If one buys a cheap Polyethylene tarpaulin, it would neither solve the purpose, as it is itself not sturdy enough, then expecting it to protect something would mean asking for too much! Secondly, its life is very short. It is fragile. If one buys it, it is just a matter of time before he/she will have to buy it again.
On the other hand, if one goes for a heavy canvas tarpaulin (with other quality-contributing factors taken care of), it might be a bit expensive, but it solves the purpose and is also highly durable. And not to forget that it’s environment-friendly!

How do I choose the right tarp for myself?

Tarpaulins come in a variety. The reason for giving different options is that tarpaulins can be used in hundreds of applications. Depending upon the required usage, you could decide which tarp would be an ideal bet.
At Ace Tarpaulin, we believe in giving our customers meaningful choices and not bombarding them with senseless variations for namesake. The latter would end up making the customer frustrated and confused.
The tarps that are offered by us- are listed with their features in a very crisp and transparent manner. In our presentation, we have taken extra care to aid the customer’s buying process, by not decorating the features section with unnecessary frills and redundant points.
One could simply click on the products, and in one glance would get a hang of the product and its usability for his/her purpose.
What sets a tarp fabric apart from the others is not just the fabric weight and its features, but also the quality of the fabric used- the grade of cotton, its processing, the chemicals used in a coating it, etc. We have made it a point to roll out the best quality tarps from our factory. We have resolved that anything with an ‘ACE’ branding must ooze quality and finesse.
